One of the deadliest cross‑border operations since the ousting of Bashar al‑Assad

Southern Syria – According to Syrian authorities, an Israeli raid carried out in the southern region of the country resulted in the deaths of at least thirteen people. The strike, which targeted a cluster of sites near the Israeli‑Syrian border, is being described as one of the most lethal incursions since the former president Bashar al‑Assad was removed from power last year.

Local officials said the operation involved a series of air‑dropped munitions that hit residential neighborhoods and a nearby military installation. Rescue teams were dispatched immediately, but the extent of the damage and the number of casualties are still being verified.

Syrian state media quoted senior officials who condemned the attack, labeling it a “brazen violation of Syrian sovereignty” and calling for an urgent response from the international community.

Israel has not yet confirmed involvement, but analysts note that the timing of the raid coincides with heightened tensions in the region, particularly over the ongoing conflict in neighboring Gaza.
