Vatican Diplomacy Extends From Turkey to Lebanon

Rome — During a stopover in Turkey, Pope Leo emphasized the need for a viable two‑state arrangement that would secure lasting peace for both Israelis and Palestinians.

The pontiff told President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that the Holy See is ready to act as a neutral mediator, offering its moral authority and diplomatic channels to facilitate dialogue.

Continuing his Middle‑East itinerary, Pope Leo is now heading to Lebanon, where he plans to meet local leaders and further discuss the Vatican’s potential role in supporting a just and durable settlement.

He added that any lasting solution must respect the legitimate aspirations of both peoples and be anchored in mutual recognition, security, and respect for human dignity.
