On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sat down with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris to discuss the next phase of Kyiv’s diplomatic strategy. The meeting came as Washington’s senior envoy, Steve Witkoff, was en route to Moscow for a separate set of negotiations.
During the talks, Zelensky emphasized the need for a stronger European coalition to support Ukraine’s defense and reconstruction efforts. He highlighted recent developments on the battlefield, calling for accelerated delivery of military aid, as well as increased financial and humanitarian assistance from EU member states.
Macron reiterated France’s commitment to Ukraine, promising to push for a unified European response in the European Council. He also warned that the ongoing diplomatic overtures to Russia could not replace the tangible support that Kyiv requires on the ground.
While the United States continues to play a pivotal role, the Ukrainian president’s pivot toward Europe signals a broader effort to diversify diplomatic channels. “We must not rely on a single partner,” Zelensky said, “but build a resilient alliance across the continent.”
Analysts note that Witkoff’s planned visit to Moscow may influence the timing and tone of future U.S.-European coordination on Ukraine. However, both Zelensky and Macron agreed that European solidarity remains the cornerstone of Kyiv’s long‑term security strategy.
Ukrayna’nın Avrupa ile ilişkilerini güçlendirmesi gerekiyor, özellikle de Rusya ile müzakerelerde bulundukları bir dönemde.
