Dario Amodei on the Risk of an AI Bubble, Regulation, and AGI

At the recent DealBook Summit, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei sat down with Andrew Ross Sorkin for an in‑depth conversation about the current state of artificial intelligence, the looming threat of an AI bubble, the evolving regulatory environment, and the company’s long‑term vision for artificial general intelligence (AGI).

Is the AI Market Overheating?

The company’s focus, he said, is on creating AI systems that can understand context, reason across domains, and do so with provable safety guarantees.

Amodei concluded that the path to AGI will be long and fraught with challenges, but with “rigorous science, responsible governance, and a healthy dose of humility,” the industry can navigate both the risks of a bubble and the complexities of regulation.
