In a shocking turn of events, Nepal's generation Z has found itself at the forefront of a revolution that began as a cry for change but quickly descended into chaos. The young protesters, driven by a desire to combat corruption and inequality, took to the streets en masse, but they claim they never anticipated the scale of violence, destruction, and ultimately, the collapse of the government that followed. The movement, which began to gain momentum several months ago, was initially characterized by peaceful demonstrations and a strong social media presence. Young Nepalis, many of whom are active on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, used their online influence to mobilize support and organize protests against what they saw as a corrupt and out-of-touch government. However, as the protests grew in size and intensity, they began to attract a more diverse crowd, including some elements that were not peaceful. Windows were smashed, buildings were set ablaze, and clashes with police became increasingly violent. The government responded with force, deploying riot police and imposing curfews in an attempt to quell the unrest.Despite these efforts, the protests only seemed to gain momentum, with more and more young people joining the movement. The hashtag #NepalDeservesBetter began trending on social media, as protesters demanded action on issues like corruption, unemployment, and social inequality. But as the violence escalated, the government began to crumble. The Prime Minister resigned, and a new administration was hastily formed. However, the young protesters who had driven the revolution say they are still waiting for real change."We didn't set out to cause chaos and destruction," said 22-year-old student leader, Srijana Shrestha. "We just wanted to make our voices heard and bring about some much-needed reforms. But we didn't expect things to spiral out of control like this."As Nepal struggles to recover from the turmoil, the country's young people are left grappling with the consequences of their actions. While some have hailed the revolution as a necessary step towards change, others have expressed concern about the violence and instability that has ensued. As one young protester, who wished to remain anonymous, put it: "We're not sure what we've achieved, but we know we can't go back to the way things were before. We have to keep pushing for change, even if it's hard."
